This Autumn training 2014, we have some return speakers including Darcy Duggan covering indigenous and weed plant identification, Mark Cairns and his animals with fauna identification and the situation of Australia’s fauna species.
Jessica Becher from Puffing Billy will be working with Yvonne Earnshaw and community samplers from Waterwatch covering Aquatic macro invertebrates, waterway planning and how this relates to Platypus health.
Navi Valdes will present findings from her pest animal work with Puffing Billy and the linking in with the work Cardinia Shire have been doing at Emerald Lake Park and extending works conducted by EcoPlan at the November Spring Session and exploring feritting techniques to control rabbits.
We are looking forward to learning from Darcy this time around how to do some practical weed mapping and monitoring techniques that also includes assessing the health of the biodiversity of the site you are working on or about to embark on.

Bushfire Management Strategy in the Dandenongs 2030
Come and join in as a panel of local community experts along with Department of Environment & Primary Industry (DEPI) and Parks Victoria (PV) officers compete for votes from the audience on their perspective around what a 'Bushfire Management Strategy' might look like in 2030 in the Dandenongs.
There is a slight twist though: each panel member will be asked to share with the audience their perspective after spending 15 years in a different role.
This event is the second of five planned forums aimed at engaging respective authorities with the wider community in raising awareness around Bushfire Management in the Dandenongs. These events are proudly brought to you by the Southern Ranges Environment Alliance (SREA) and the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI).
This will be the opening activity for the Autumn Training Weekend which is the second of a series of four training events throughout 2013 and 2014.
